Real Classic

Dec 01 2021
Magazine

RealClassic magazine features the very best British motorcycles from all eras, plus charismatic Continental machines (and the odd Japanese classics crops up occasionally, too). Long term classic riders will recognise many of the members of the RC team, which includes authors, historians and journalists like Steve Wilson, Dave Minton, Matt Vale, Odgie, Jacqueline 'PUB' Bickerstaff, Rowena Hoseason and editor Frank Westworth -- but the magazine's key feature is that it is firmly grounded in the real world. Our articles are written by real life riders and reflect far more than a simple road test ever can. We're never scared of getting grubby in The Shed (and we even admit it when things go horribly wrong!)

FROM THE FRONT

WHO’S DONE WHAT

Mid-Atlantic Motor cycle • When is a Vincent not (entirely) a Vincent? When it’s an Indian of course. Alan Cathcart takes a voyage of discovery

INDIAN-VINCENT

HISTORY TIME

INCOMING! • RC readers write, rant and rattle on...

THE CIDER SLIDER • A month or two ago, Odgie told us all about a flat-track T140 built by a professional to his customer’s requirements. This time, we see what that same bike builder chooses to do with a T120, but to suit his own inclinations...

Holy SMOKER • Many strange things happened in the 1970s. Like this: a 250cc 3-cylinder 2-stroke. Frank Westworth borrowed one, just for fun...

Climb EVERY MOUNTAIN • In 1961, Enfield swept the board in ‘the other TT’, the Tatra Trial in the Carpathian mountains. The winning machine now takes pride of place at Sammy Miller’s Museum...

BUYER’S EYE • It’s been tricky to predict how the classic motorcycle market might react to the exciting events of the past 18 months. Will values fall? Will prices rise? Rowena Hoseason looks at some bellweather bikes to answer those questions...

Star QUALITY • It’s finished! Odgie has built a lightweight British single specifically to suit an old friend. The final stages weren’t quite as smooth as expected – but at last it’s ready to ride...

THE OWNER SPEAKS

SINGLE-MINDED • If Odgie’s Starfire project has got you thinking about unit-construction BSA singles then you’ve plenty of models and machines to consider. Paul Henshaw has fixed and ridden a fair few over the years, and shares his expertise on the subject, starting with the C15...

Ajay’s AMERICAN Vee • Pre-War V-twins boast a charm all their own, and it’s all about the engine. Richard Negus rebuilds a sidevalve engine from a truly rare AJS...

PUB TALK • The 2021 Spring Pioneer run to Brighton has finally taken place, albeit not in the Spring, and not to Brighton either. However it was the opportunity to take the ‘new’ (1914) Invicta fora substantial run...

THE SHED • Revived! A little lightness has descended on the Sunbeam. All is sunshine in The Shed…

Olliés ODDJOBS • Factory fresh! Ollie considers a lesser-known Norton neverwozzer…
