Real Classic

May 01 2022
Magazine

RealClassic magazine features the very best British motorcycles from all eras, plus charismatic Continental machines (and the odd Japanese classics crops up occasionally, too). Long term classic riders will recognise many of the members of the RC team, which includes authors, historians and journalists like Steve Wilson, Dave Minton, Matt Vale, Odgie, Jacqueline 'PUB' Bickerstaff, Rowena Hoseason and editor Frank Westworth -- but the magazine's key feature is that it is firmly grounded in the real world. Our articles are written by real life riders and reflect far more than a simple road test ever can. We're never scared of getting grubby in The Shed (and we even admit it when things go horribly wrong!)

Real Classic

IN COMING! • RC readers write, rant and rattle on...

American Excellence • Was the Crocker truly the best American motorcycle of its time? Alan Cathcart investigates…

MATCHLESS Moments • Half a century ago, Frank Burbery bought an ex- WD 350 single. That started a relationship with these machines which continues to this day…

ADDING LIGHTNESS

Cool CUSTOMER • Rescuing a dilapidated trial bike from a shed, Adam Fuller not only brings it back to life, but then he finds some exotic countryside to romp around in…

OUTWARD BOUND • Rides, rallies, shows and jumbles! Point your wheels this way...

READERADS

PLUGS & LEADS

THE BEST OF BOTH • Last month, Stephen Herbert inserted a Indian Enfield 535 engine into a Crusader frame. Now he wants to see if it will work, and then he has to battle the bureaucracy to actually ride it on the road...

FETTLING A Four • Cast your mind back to RC195. That’s when Bill Bowers started fixing something which wasn’t broken on his Ariel. Since then, other things have broken...

NO POINT OF REFERENCE • Mark Adams bought an A65 in 1990 and has been trying to make it work ever since. In 2004, he was part-way through a rebuild...

PUB TALK • A year-long project to make a magneto re-magnetiser has finally borne fruit. Here are some of the ways it can be done (without sending blank cheques to the professionals, that is)...

Ollie’s ODDJOBS

TALES FROM THE SHED • The course of true Shed life rarely runs smoothly. Frank has been arguing with a reluctant twin that it should in fact run, and smoothly too…
