Real Classic

Sep 01 2022
Magazine

RealClassic magazine features the very best British motorcycles from all eras, plus charismatic Continental machines (and the odd Japanese classics crops up occasionally, too). Long term classic riders will recognise many of the members of the RC team, which includes authors, historians and journalists like Steve Wilson, Dave Minton, Matt Vale, Odgie, Jacqueline 'PUB' Bickerstaff, Rowena Hoseason and editor Frank Westworth -- but the magazine's key feature is that it is firmly grounded in the real world. Our articles are written by real life riders and reflect far more than a simple road test ever can. We're never scared of getting grubby in The Shed (and we even admit it when things go horribly wrong!)

FROM THE FRONT

HOME BREWED FOUR

INCOMING! • RC readers write, rant and rattle on…

PREY OR Pray? • Are you ready for the awesome excitement of a Falcon in full flight? Ace Tester Miles can barely control the power…

WARTIME WORKHORSE • More than 90,000 ‘Liberators’ rolled off Milwaukee’s production lines during WW2. Stuart Francis has a soft spot for the hard-working winter warrior…

JUST CHECKING! • When a bike into which you’ve invested blood, sweat and expense fails to deliver, it’s a decent idea to try another of the same breed to seek reassurance. So Frank Westworth thinks, anyway…

Little ITALY • ‘Tell us more about small capacity classics!’ you demanded. ‘OK!’ said Stu Thomson, because this just happens to be his specialist subject…

THE MIGHT OF MARMITE • MZ: love them or hate them? Kevin Smith figured one of these idiosyncratic strokers was the ideal way to kickstart his classic motorcycling career…

OUTWARD BOUND • Rides, rallies, shows and jumbles! Point your wheels this way…

Gold STANDARD • Keith Rowles would never have chosen to restore an original Wing but…when fate gives you lemons, it’s time to make lemonade. Or learn how to fix Honda’s flat four…

Totally TOO Much • In which Odgie attempts to tame the lethal beast of his own creation…

CLEVER COGS • Ever find yourself exactly between two gear ratios? Greg Campbell’s Gold Star didn’t have quite the right gear for his regular rides, so he sought a five-speed solution…

PUB TALK • The PUB Vincent attends Valkyrie Bike night, and Big Port was one of the flat tankers at Founder’s Day

Ollie’s ODDJOBS

TALES FROM THE SHED • More on the mighty mini-Matchless! Frank appears to be having a worryingly good time…
