THIS MONTH’S FABULOUS PRIZE

what we love THIS MONTH • Judging by the list below, we’ve been sitting in the dark, glued to our screens, all month long. Except for Maya. She was sitting in a dimly lit room, listening to music.

Listen up!

CHARLiZE our bombshell • Charlize Theron has found longevity in variety, juggling producing with acting and taking on roles in everything from rom-coms and action flicks to acclaimed dramas. In fact, she was instrumental in getting Bombshell made – for which she snagged a best actress Oscar nomination earlier this year – saving the project by restructuring the finances when an investor pulled out. Margaret Gardiner chatted to the actress about the prescience of Bombshell, motherhood and living life on her own terms.

THE SWEET SPOT • An authentic French crêpe, served up in style? Or a scoop of ice cream in just about any flavour imaginable? We know just the place!

NUNCHI THE KOREAN SUPERPOWER • From finding love to getting that promotion at work, mastering the art of nunchi will give you the silent advantage in life that you need. There are just eight basic rules to follow – they may seem obvious, but can be surprisingly tricky to stick to.

the 8 rules of nunchi

A NUNCHI SELF-ASSESSMENT QUIZ • Which of the following scenarios have you experienced?

NUNCHI FOR THE NERVOUS • Which of these situations describe nunchi-based healthy fears, and which describe irrational anxiety?

in pole POSITION • Former London lawyer Kathy Lee helps people get into shape and take control of their own lives through pole-dancing. She’s all about turning the stereotype on its head.

Once upon a time THE RISE OF STORYTELLING • Your true story. A live audience. Five minutes. No notes. Would you do it? Storytelling events are selling out in seconds and storytellers are fighting for spots to speak. What is it about listening to stories that keeps us so enthralled?

Q&A with storyteller Irshad Kathrada

HOW TO TELL A GOOD STORY • It really is all about you. Tell a story you’re intimately connected to: that personal connection will naturally provide a sense of richness.

Prue believer • Prue Leith is a novelist, chef, Michelin-starred restaurateur, businesswoman, cookery writer, entrepreneur, Bake-Off judge, campaigner – and total one-off.

So Prue

guiltily ever after • Infidelity is a curious thing. You can spend years condemning it, years feeling shocked by the latest gossip or indiscretion, years promising yourself with absolute confidence that you would never be ‘one of them’. And then something changes – it may be your relationship, your state of mind, work pressure... and you find yourself being the one person you never wanted to be, suspended in a web of lies.

Here’s what I’ve learnt in therapy – so far

Odd jobs • Working a ho-hum desk job and making chit-chat around the water cooler isn’t for everyone. These women have the kind of job titles that you don’t often see printed on a business card – ranging from cool to downright crazy.

The hadedas were the first to go • We drove to Noupoort dreaming of a quaint railway house to retire to, complete with a wraparound porch and creaky wooden floors. What we found was a ghost town, a chilling glimpse of a world without water.

DOWNTIME in Donegal • If it’s a rugged coastline and a fine wool jacket you’re after, County Donegal in Ireland has the best of both, along with unspoiled beaches and a quality of light that you’ll never forget.
