The way we were…

Two-stroke therapy • Conor ‘Connie’ McCormack had just lost both his parents and needed a positive distraction – what he got was Barry Gill’s Kawasaki H2 in boxes which had sat outside in the Irish weather for six years

Good golly… • Is it a poor man’s V-Max or simply Honda hubris? Scoop hurtles towards the horizon on his mate’s Honda V65 Magna – known affectionately as ‘Red Molly’!

Prodigal Stun! • Yamaha’s Fazer 1000 was supposed to be THE naked litre-class bike, but strange pricing and fierce competition meant things didn’t go to plan. Andy Bolas rides the Fazer and finds its future as a classic is as bright as its paintwork.

Triumph Rocket III • Big, bad and beautiful – the Rocket III turns 20 this year. But, while it remains in Triumph’s range today, we’d still like a simpler, stripped-back experience from 2004.

Give us a lift! • Ralph Ferrand works with tools all day long – he sells them, too, at bikerstoolbox.co.uk so he knows what works.

Moto Guzzi Le Mans 850

Q&A • Our very own wizened sages, Messrs Mark Haycock and Steve Cooper, are here to answer all of your woes, be they mechanical or spiritual. Every month we will be giving advice, as well as some general tips. Don’t forget to send in your own tips, too.

Cruise control • Would our own Iceman Martin’s take on Top Gun’s sexiest two-wheeler end up as a marvellous Maverick or a ‘gone too soon’ Goose? Look at these pictures!

Piston Broke • Will Holman’s 1974 Yamaha DT360 engine was full of mayonnaise. It didn’t look fresh either, so it was time to strip the engine and rebuild it.

On the slab! • No chance of Jeff’s ‘Slabby 3’ starting this issue. He stuffed up and bought the wrong carburettors, but at least lots of progress has been made on the rolling chassis…

Bay-watch* • Kev Raymond keeps his eye on the choppy waters of the classic world to see if any projects, donors and bargains are out there worthy of being dragged out of the surf for some mouth-to-mouth…

YAMAHA RD250B • Steve Cooper looks at the last of the round-tanked RD250s to see how they measure up as a purchase in 2024.

Cool for Cat! • Andy B needed to get mate Tony’s Thundercat ready for the CMM camera and it was a bit of a race against time, but he did it.

SHOW US YER SHED! IN CONJUNCTION WITH • We want to see YOUR shed, your workshop, your garage space, your man/person cave – call it what you will! We want to know what you love and loathe about the space you have to fettle and – each month – we have a £50 Machine Mart voucher to give to you if you’re selected!
