ELLE Decoration

from the editor

Mood of the month • We’re taking cues from the sunny, laid-back style most commonly found in beachside interiors dotted along California’s coast for this look, which is dominated by earthy colours, surfer-esque wave shapes and furniture that wouldn’t look out of place in a 1970s dream home

colour • Draga & Aurel enthusiasts won’t be the only people excited about the studio’s latest technicolour piece: ‘Glint’. We’re convinced everyone will be mesmerised by this cabinet’s pastel hues and glossy glow. Its striking doors are crafted from sheets of the studio’s signature acrylic-plastic resin, Lucite, which has a milky, opaline finish and fluorescent highlights. Price on application (rossanaorlandi.com).

outdoor • With its contemporary shapes and utilitarian design ethos, Space Copenhagen’s new outdoor range for &Tradition ‘celebrates life in any outdoor context’. Named ‘Thorvald’ after Copenhagen’s Thorvaldsens Museum, it comprises a solid-steel side table, café table, dining table and stackable chairs, and comes in ivory, black or forest-green.

Turning inside-out • Two years in the making, Soho Home’s first outdoor-furniture collection highlights its members’ club expertise in knowing what it takes to really have fun al fresco

A new thread • One of Italy’s most historical fabric houses has enlisted the help of one of the country’s hottest design studios to spearhead a new creative direction, and we love it

Molteni’s world • As the quintessential ‘made in Italy’ brand turns 90, it is offering an exclusive glimpse into its stylish universe with a definitive new book

Signor non-stop • To date, he has worked with every major Italian furniture manufacturer going, yet at the age of 74 architect and industrial designer Antonio Citterio’s Maxalto range proves he’s showing no signs of slowing down

Delicate metals • Is it over for Y2K-styled tubular chrome furniture? We think so. After years of chunky and inflated silhouettes dominating interiors, a slew of magnetic designs are embracing a more streamlined, ornamental aesthetic. High shine still reigns supreme, but today, metals such as aluminium and stainless steel are taking on forms that meet at the intersection of art, furniture and jewellery. These treasures are designed to adorn a room and act as a reflection of elegant personal style rather than take centre-stage.

Enkei • Introducing the Swedish lighting studio with a mission to shine a light on reuse and make sustainable materials beautiful

Amechi Mandi • The Cameroon-born designer finds pride and inspiration in precious beaded textiles that speak to his heritage

Magazine racks • The titles you choose to read (or display) say a lot about you, which is why storage and curation matter. Want the latest copy of ELLE Decoration within reach? Striving to impress guests with an exhibit of back issues? These racks are the ultimate way to get your glossy library in order

Aram at 60 • The groundbreaking design store celebrates a landmark anniversary with a limited-edition launch and the return of its fêted gallery space

Molly Ringwald • A person of note tells us what they’re watching, listening to and more…

Wagner Kreusch • Impressive floral installations and intriguing ikebana sculptures typify the expertly curated world of this avant-garde florist

My Milan… Joseph Grima • We asked the architect, critic, curator...
