Classic Dirt Bike magazine: is about the bikes and personalities of the sport, covering pre-65 machines, classic and twin shocks, trials as well as scrambling/motocross and enduros. Sadly gone from us… • It is the sad task of magazine editors everywhere to record the passing of those known to our scene and a few words on a page can never really do justice to the memory of the characters who inhabit our sport. For this issue we’ve learned of three names who have passed the final chequered flag…

First production trials mono auctioned

Ultimate air-cooled • The final development of Montesa’s air-cooled line was visually stunning but ultimately short-lived as the water-coolers were on the way.

Mega Maico • Introducing the Mega 2 model in the early Eighties propelled Maico into the ‘one to beat’ category…looks like this Mega 2 is continuing the theme.

Alternative POWER • As the eco movement gains more credence and applies pressure to the motorsports world perhaps there is room for change.

Born to SURVIVE • Man and machine reunited… an ISDT survivor comes home.

Of bikes and bits • With a selection of bikes in the workshop something always needs work.

DIRTPRODUCTS • This is where the wider world of dirt bike suppliers tell us about what they’ve got going on which will make your bike a bit better, your appearance a bit sharper and your track cred… Want to be in here? Contact the editor Tim Britton: cdbeditor@mortons.co.uk or Leon Currie in advertising: lcurrie@mortons.co.uk, tel 01507 529465

Cumbrian Classic Contest • Westmorland MC Ltd’s securing of the Westmorland Showground to hold scrambles on was inspired and has provided classic action on a popular track.

Top class • The Toughsheet National Twinshock MX Series came close to CDB’s northern office… so we went along.

DRUMLANRIG Offroad Motorsport Festival • One of the early casualties of the Covid pandemic was the 2020 Drumlanrig Grand National Scramble… in 2022 it was back!

Back to the future • To misquote a movie star: “We deal in the past, friend…” as our man reflects on events and costs from not so long ago.

At the Baa • Castleside TC’s two-day Baa Classic Trial was, for 2022, also a round of the Rockshocks Classic Trials Championship.

DIRTTALK • Here it is, your place to tell the world your opinion on the dirt bike world, here for all time, not like the cyber world where it’s glimpsed and gone.

CLASSIC DIRT bike

Magical Mick's Machine • An invitation to ride in the Highland Classic Two Day – OSSA Edition, meant Mick Andrews would need a special OSSA.
