Fancy a day out? • It’s incomprehensible, but things seem to slow to a trickle before vanishing into oblivion halfway through September (apart from in Glasgow, where folk are made of sturdier stuff). Has no one heard of Indian summers? There’s still plenty of events to go to, so get out there while you still can, and if you need to, drain your tanks for the winter and coat your ‘winter hack’ with ACF 50. Hack always seems to be a bit of an unfair term for a motorcycle that will go and keep going, no matter what you throw it. Old Faithful seems more appropriate.

Kids in a sweetshop • Have you ever walked through a museum and asked yourself which machine would you pick, given a choice? Well now you can, with many bikes from the A.R.E. museum on the Isle of Man for sale at the International Classic Motorcycle show at Stafford this October

Oli’s t’pence • Some riders like to ride together. Oli prefers to enjoy riding on his own...

Skills sharing • Lack of ability to fix a motorcycle is no one’s fault, says Steve, and it’s us who can help

BMW R18 Roctane

Take your classic on track! • Nothing coming the other way, no wet manhole covers, and you get to perfect the same corners every two minutes. What is there not to like?

Workshop quickies • Sometimes, a stripping, cleaning, and reassembling is all it takes to fix an issue...

Back to basics Steering dampers • In our look at the basics of old bikes, we look at the steering damper, what it is and why do some bikes need one?

Shaft surgery • Hutch gets a new toy – but with a clunk

Aermacchi electrics – fixing the charging circuit • Oli enters the world of Italian electrics…

Frank’s Famous Last Words • One man’s junk is another man’s rubbish. Until yet another man actually wants it. Frank’s been jumbling, briefly…

It’s a beautiful day… • Welcome… to the ONLY place to be for bikers of all eras.
