And lo the sun doth shine

Running late

BSA A65 Thunderbolt • It is reasonably priced, goes well, and parts are rarely a problem – and the name is brilliant. Check out the Thunderbolt...

The INTERNATIONAL Classic MOTORCYCLE SHOW • The Stafford show felt zippier, more enthusiastic this April after the last few years. Quality builds and restorations, special guest Giacomo Agostini twinkling away and making the ladies weak at the knees helped, but the clubs and stands made it what it is. Andover Norton displayed a selection of rarities including a three-cylinder Commando, John Player racers and the rarely seen BMW-Norton single from the late 1990s, and there was a cluster of new DOTs tucked away in the corner, looking great. But the club stands really stood out, so we went to talk to some.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON XR1000R LUCIFER’S HAMMER • This year sees Harley-Davidson celebrating its 120th birthday. It also marks the 40th anniversary of one of the motor company’s most legendary victories at the Daytona 200.

Living with a Bantam! • The little BSA two-stroke is etched in most people’s memories for many reasons. But other than harking back to youth, are they any good to ride nowadays?

Gee Whizzer! • Not all great American motorcycles are big V-twins…

Anything to say? • Email || editor@classicbikeguide.com Write to || Classic Bike Guide, PO Box 99, Horncastle, Lincolnshire, LN9 6LZ

Fancy a day out? • Lots of bike shows, lots of ride-outs, lots of events that will dent your wallet and empty your purse, lots that are there just for the joy of it…

‘And another thing...’ • Oli looks at the way we buy and sell our old bikes nowadays, if it even works still, and reflects on his bike history...

BSA Fury and others that never were • Steve looks at what could have been, back in his youth...

1982 Triumph Royal Bonneville • A right Royal ride?

Honda CL500 • In the 1970s, the American market had the attractive, twin-cylinder, do-it-all Honda CL range. And now you can have a new one for under six grand on the road.

Register a motorcycle • It’s easy to find a bike with no paperwork, but exactly how do you jump through the rings of bureaucratic fire to get a registration? We walk you through it...

Workshop quickies • Little jobs we’ve been up to this month...

Kaizen bracketeering

You’ve got a new project! What shall we do now? • How do you work out what to do first, what to leave, how to do it, and cost of all this? We look at organising a new project – by buying a new project… (lame excuse – Maria)

Triumph woes! • Maria’s Tribsa is running, but it leaves its mark like a dog on a lamp post…

Frank’s Famous Last Words • Finish a project? Frank asks: “Why would anyone do that?”
