Woodland’s gallery • These feature pages are reserved for displaying the work of emerging and developing Australian artists; as well as other unknowns whose efforts may provide interest for our readers.

My lifetime love of art • Now that they have retired, Barbara and her husband usually spend about a third of each year caravanning around Australia, with Barbara using her watercolours and pastels to capture many of the amazing sights on their journeys.

The Old Mill • The atmosphere of the light and shadows is captured in this demonstration of Barbara’s old mill at Melrose in South Australia

Inspiration from the Wilderness • A strong connection with nature gives John a definite advantage when capturing his visions on canvas.

Never Never Creek • While on a recent trip towards northern New South Wales I was fortunate enough to come across a truly beautiful part of this country known as the Promised Land. This magnificent place is just north of Bellingen, about an hour south-east of Coffs Harbour. It was actually while floating down stream with my family that I came across the inspiration for this piece, and decided to use its actual place name, ”Never Never Creek.”

It’s all about the journey • “If I focused on the end product all the way through the ‘doing’ of the painting, or rated its importance solely on the impact of the ‘final product’ then something of the joy would be lost for me. I love the journey.”

Oriental Girl • Ali gives an honest (and amusing) step by step account of her demonstration, from dismissing her initial idea of a self-portrait to gaining inspiration from a photo she’d taken on a recent trip to Japan.

“I Paint For Love And Passion” • Proud of her individuality, Karina boldly expresses her life experiences via paper and canvas.

Emotional Rollercoaster • I always direct positive energy at my art because all things have an aura, and I want my artwork to be a form of healing to those who view it.

A Practicing Exhibiting Artist • Fascinated by the diverse and extraordinarily beautiful colours and forms in the Australian landscape, passion and talent have created amazing life experiences for professional artist Sylvia.

Escarpment at the Crossing, Ross River NT • Dr Sylvia Ditchburn catches the beauty of the rugged escarpment and post-flooding riverbed at a crossing on the Ross in Central Australia, east of Alice Springs.
