to survive on this shore • It’s not often that we see older transgender folks in the spotlight. For five years, photographer Jess T. Dugan and social worker Vanessa Fabbre travelled across the United States to document the stories too often missing from conversations on queer identity. In the duo’s resulting portrait and interview series, 65 trans and gender-nonconforming individuals express the joys and struggles of being themselves.
