Fancy a day out? • Time to pack away your jeans and jackets and sort out the heated grips, the big boots, the waxed cotton coat and hat. It’s October, and we must cope with sludgy patches of leaves and the potential threat of icy and slippery bits on our favourite corners. Alternatively fill the shed wood-burner with off-cuts and bits of old dead tree and get working on your next project. Major outdoor events are coming to an end, but there are still lots of indoor jumbles and shows, ideal for the bits you need in the shed. Pack your spanners, waterproofs, and a flask and some sandwiches to the big shows if you want to have money left for grommets and cables. Have fun and don’t forget to let us know about your own events.

Old Horses and Ale – CBG August 2022

Let the Sun shine again • This Sun Precision motorcycle of about 1913 led a brief and normal life before it was hidden away from the world. Fifty years on, it was uncovered and then sympathetically restored to working condition a further 40 years later. It has now been donated to the Sammy Miller Trust by the Williams family of Norwich, so everyone can see it.

DUCATI 900 SSD Darmah • “You won’t get me off an old bevel.” So says the owner of this rare example of when Ducati aimed its sights at a sports tourer. With help from the storeman raiding the 900SS and Darmah shelves, this is the result of the work...

A brief guide to Ducati history

Not so mellow yellow • There are times when it is unavoidably excellent to let the superficial side of your character take over. Just take a look at this Norton. It was only a little terrifying to ride fast, never mind far – but the colour! Those pipes! That chrome! If I’m here to talk about bikes that made a deep impression, well, gentle reader, this is one of them...

British Bike Guide PART TWO

When will I be FAMOUS – HONDA CBX750 • Despite having only a four-year lifespan, the monoshock, double overhead cam Honda CBX750 was an important bike in Soichiro’s line-up during the 1980s, if only to take some pressure off several of Honda’s previous products...

Steve’s Yamaha AS1 Part Fifteen • Steve is now onto electrics – we’re getting there... slowly!

Two-legged trauma • A main stand gives up the ghost, leaving Hutch no choice but to get the heavy tools out

Project BMW • The BMW is on the road, so just tying up loose ends. Oh, and a slight panic!

Famous Last Words • Everyone dislikes motorcycle collectors. Oops…
