Travellin’ Man • John Titman was no instant speedway star – he had to work at it. But dedication and perseverance paid off, taking John to the very top in his sport in Australia, as well as a long and successful career in Europe.

MIDDLE THINKING • The horsepower race of the ‘seventies took a breather when many manufacturers began to look at less capacity, less weight, and a broader appeal.

C3 A KIWI CREATION • Former editor of REVS Motorcycle News Michael Esdaile has the background on a little-known three-cylinder racer built in Timaru in the mid-1970s.

A Sertum love affair • In issue 103 we brought you the first part of Benedetta Marazzi’s epic 2017 journey through Italy on her 1949 Sertum 250 VL – a motorcycle of which she is passionately fond, affectionately named Mina. We left that story after the first day of what would be an 883km ride, and here is the rest of that wonderful trip.

A complete circle • In issue 101 (Blow Your Own P10) we featured a photograph (supplied by Maurice Austin) of a very unusual 250 Ducati racer. It set historian Ken Lindsay on a path of discovery, as he relates here.

Long gone… but still there. • Driving through the endless housing developments in Sydney’s North West takes you through or past suburbs with unimaginative names like The Ponds, but it wasn’t always like this. At the centre of this development mania is Schofields – a name that means little to anyone today and is basically home to a railway station and the Western Sydney University Nirimba.

HONDA CB900F2B A FOOT IN BOTH CAMPS • What do you get when you add a half-fairing to a very sporty road bike? A café/tourer?

Make mine a double-shot espresso • It’s been quite a while since we visited this timeless machine, so when the offer came up for a loan for a couple of weeks, we jumped at it.

City streets and tougher terrain • Since its introduction in 2016, Royal Enfield’s Himalayan has found plenty of admirers and owners. The Himalayan is a versatile, go-anywhere middleweight all-rounder that can more than handle the rough stuff. But maybe, thought the RE boffins, it could be a little more city-friendly? That’s where the new Scram 411 comes in.

Celebrating 50 years since Imola ’72. • This year marks the 50th anniversary of Paul Smart’s famous win at the Imola 200 in 1972 which was largely responsible for putting Ducati on the map for big bike production, so the Ducati Owners Club of Queensland marked the occasion with a Sunday morning ride on 11 September 2022.
