THE ART OF NOISE

MUMFORD AND SUN • The Mumford Marina convertible is an ultra-rare car with an extraordinary story. Tim York’s immaculate example is 1970s blue-sky thinking at its best.

AN ATTAINABLE DREAM • When two children of the 1980s decided to get a classic car to transport them back in time, there could have been no more iconic choice than a Porsche 944 Lux. But how has the reality lived up to the dream?

A DOSE OF REALITY • The Mini Restoration Company prefer to save what they can and only replace things when they have to. Ironically, this can add considerably to the cost of a restoration.

WHEN VOLVOS WERE SEXY! • Paul Owen bought his 1971 Volvo P1800E as an unfinished project from a garage that did good bodywork, but which was apparently not so hot on the mechanical side. Fortunately that dovetailed nicely with Paul's own skill set and the result is very easy on the eye.

GENER ATIONS APART • We contrast and compare two entry level Fiats from very different eras – aPanda that harks back to the 1980s and a modern 500 that has yet to reach the end of its production road. And as an extra twist, two young ladies are doing the comparing and contrasting!

PROJECT MGB GT • With the majority of smaller jobs ticked off, Rob and his local garage examine the structural condition of our B.

The sound of silence

A saloon, a Traveller and a van...

Computers? Great when they work!

It's all a matter of timing

RELIANT REGAL 3/25 DE-LUXE • Our long-running Regal project draws to a close, and now it is ready to start a new chapter of its life – back on the road after a hiatus of some 30 years.

BMW Z3 PROJECT • With the bodywork finished, it’s time to go through our 1998 Z3 1.9 to address any mechanical issues. It is mainly good news on this front, but we caught some things just in time.

BENT PANELS AND A BLOWING EXHAUST • Our Vanden Plas may be cosmetically challenged, but it is at least basically sound. That doesn’t mean, however, that there are no minor details to be improved.

LAND ROVER SERIES IIA 109 SAFARI • It is funny how sometimes the most trivial of problems causes you the most grief. Who would have thought that reinstating the original horn button would be such a palaver?

MK1 & MK2 FORD GRANADA

SMOOTH OPERATOR • In its day an interesting, rather Gallic riposte to more...
