Rolls-Royce & Bentley Driver

November - December 2023
Magazine

Celebrating two of Britain's most prestigious automotive marques, Rolls-Royce & Bentley Driver magazine is the definitive publication for all Rolls-Royce and Bentley enthusiasts and owners. Principally focusing on the classic models of these luxurious car brands, it will offer comprehensive coverage of the most popular versions from both Rolls-Royce and Bentley, ranging from immediately after WW2 up to around the turn of the millennium. Undoubtedly, there will be some coverage of pre-war models, and we will feature modern classics such as the Bentley GT coupe. Whatever the model, however, our aim with Rolls-Royce & Bentley Driver magazine is to offer a mix of owners' stories, buying advice, technical hints and tips and inspiration on how to restore, maintain, and, crucially, enjoy your favourite Rolls-Royce or Bentley.

Artists’ impressions

ELECTRIC PHANTOM II: ROLLS-ROYCE'S SILENT DESTINY?

GOING TO GREAT LENGTHS • The extended wheelbase versions of the SY and SZ generations were always exclusive, so when the chance came to compare one of each from only a few years apart, how could we say no?

EXTENDED WHEELBASE ACROSS THE GENERATIONS

AUCTION TRACKER • Following the highs and lows and analysing the Rolls-Royce and Bentley trends within the UK auction scene

MARKET WATCH • Each issue, we take a look at some of the most tempting cars for sale and report on others that have sold – covering everything from affordable modern classics through to the most premium-priced gems

EVERNDEN'S DREAM • In 1950 Rolls-Royce's Chief Projects Engineer, Ivan Evernden, had an idea for a two-seat Bentley sports car called the Blizzard. This year, that dream finally came true – and we've driven it

THE ALVIS ‘BLIZZARD’ – WAS BENTLEY RIGHT?

YOUR SHOUT • Got something to say about anything Rolls-Royce or Bentley related? Then we want to hear it!

A HISTORY OF HIGH LIVING • This fabulous Phantom limousine was bought 94 years ago with the proceeds of crime, and has recently been revived after 30 years in a museum. Now it's a rich reward for its owner-driver – and sometimes transports the luckiest Dachshunds in the country

ILL-GOTTEN GAINS

INSPIRED BY LE MANS • The Bentley La Sarthe by Bensport Ltd is a limited run, two-door, two seat coupé inspired by an intriguing concept – what if Bentley had continued racing at the La Sarthe circuit in the town of Le Mans after World War II?

THE SPIRIT OF EXPERIMENTATION ROLLS-ROYCE'S FIRST V8 • In the second part of our new series we jump back to 1905, when the fledgling Rolls-Royce faced an onslaught from electric vehicles. It responded in a surprising way, by creating the world's first V8 engine intended for road car use

EASTICK CLAIMS TIMES CHALLENGE TROPHY HAT-TRICK • BDC Competitions Captain wins blue-riband Bentley scratch race at 75th BDC Silverstone race meeting

OUR YORKSHIRE GATHERING • The RREC's 2023 North of England Rally on the fi rst weekend in August offered a superb variety or road runs, activities and attractions

LIVING WITH BENTLEY'S MODERN MASTERPIECE • RR&BD reader Kevin Leigh shares the experience of buying the fl agship of Bentley's range between 2010 and 2020 – what are they like as a second-hand option?

PERSONAL CHOICE 20 YEARS’ SEARCH – AND WORTH EVERY MINUTE • It takes a very special person to inspire a 20-year hunt for the ideal birthday present. Edward Hughes (aged 102) is just such a person, and the perfect gift in question is a certain 1963 Bentley S3
