Rolls-Royce & Bentley Driver

September - October 2022
Magazine

Celebrating two of Britain's most prestigious automotive marques, Rolls-Royce & Bentley Driver magazine is the definitive publication for all Rolls-Royce and Bentley enthusiasts and owners. Principally focusing on the classic models of these luxurious car brands, it will offer comprehensive coverage of the most popular versions from both Rolls-Royce and Bentley, ranging from immediately after WW2 up to around the turn of the millennium. Undoubtedly, there will be some coverage of pre-war models, and we will feature modern classics such as the Bentley GT coupe. Whatever the model, however, our aim with Rolls-Royce & Bentley Driver magazine is to offer a mix of owners' stories, buying advice, technical hints and tips and inspiration on how to restore, maintain, and, crucially, enjoy your favourite Rolls-Royce or Bentley.

CUSTOM COACHWORK…BUT ALSO STANDARD?

MARKET WATCH • Each issue, we take a look at some of the most tempting cars for sale and report on others that have sold – covering everything from affordable modern classics through to the most premium-priced gems

Sufficiently SPECIAL • Jonathan Gould tried other luxurious super-saloons and even a younger Bentley before finding what he was looking for – the Arnage Red Label. What makes it so special?

LIVING WITH AN ARNAGE – THE SPECIALIST’S VIEW

YOUR SHOUT • Got something to say about anything Rolls-Royce or Bentley related? Then we want to hear it!

RETURN OF A SPECIAL BENTLEY • Cars can leave a profound impression on our childhood, and as car enthusiasts we can probably all think of one we wish our parents had never sold. David Watt did better than that – he bought it and brought it home.

B48EG ON THE ROAD

PARK-WARD MOTORS, USA • An American company founded by an Australian specialising in British cars? Sounds confusing, but it’s simple – Park-Ward Motors is one of the leading Rolls-Royce & Bentley workshops in the USA, and perhaps the biggest Silver Shadow and Corniche specialist anywhere

ROLLS-ROYCE AND BENTLEY IN THE USA • How does the Rolls-Royce and Bentley scene in the United States differ from the United Kingdom and Europe – and how’s the market doing for the cars we love? We asked some expert witnesses for their views

AN ANATOMY OF THE… THE BENTLEY Mk VI AND ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER DAWN • The MkVI was the first post-war Bentley and established some significant firsts, such as car production at Crewe and the provision of a Standard Steel saloon body. With the later advent of the very similar Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn, it also ushered in the era of badge engineering

THE MOVE TO CREWE

THE BODY BEAUTIFUL

THE IntroCar VIEW

STUNNING DERBY IS BDC CONCOURS BEST IN SHOW • Club Member Michael Dacre’s stunning 4¼ Veth & Zoon wins WO Bentley Memorial Foundation Trophy at Cubberley House weekend spectacular

AT LAST – THE BEAUTY OF BURGHLEY • The RREC’S Annual Rally and Concours at Burghley House in Stamford returned on the first weekend in July. For those who couldn’t be there, here are some of the most eye-catching photos.

COACHBUILT FOR HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY • Born in England, raised in Hollywood, California. No, we are not speaking of a famous movie actor, but of a very special Bentley S1.

SILVER SHADOW THE CLASSIC CHOICE • Arguably Rolls-Royce’s most important model to date, the Shadow still represents excellent value, even as prices continue to rise. But such technical sophistication creates pitfalls for the...
