Real Classic

Jan 01 2024
Magazine

RealClassic magazine features the very best British motorcycles from all eras, plus charismatic Continental machines (and the odd Japanese classics crops up occasionally, too). Long term classic riders will recognise many of the members of the RC team, which includes authors, historians and journalists like Steve Wilson, Dave Minton, Matt Vale, Odgie, Jacqueline 'PUB' Bickerstaff, Rowena Hoseason and editor Frank Westworth -- but the magazine's key feature is that it is firmly grounded in the real world. Our articles are written by real life riders and reflect far more than a simple road test ever can. We're never scared of getting grubby in The Shed (and we even admit it when things go horribly wrong!)

Peter's PIPER • Who do you turn to in times of need, when your dream bike needs more than a little TLC? Well, we get by with a little help from our friends. Henry Gregson explains…

SMALL BORE FOUR • Is this the very first half-litre four pot roadster motorcycle? Frank Westworth finds himself pondering the meaning of, well, everything…

Home Improvevements • A Royal Enfield with overhead cams? Really? Alan Cathcart rides the Ring…

PURE CLASS • What do you look for in a classic bike? Peter Hatfield sought simplicity, purity and poise, and thinks he might've found it…

A Rickman RECTIFICATION • Someone who probably should know better (that would be Oily Boot Bob) paid big bucks for a rare, iconic British classic. It ran perfectly and he lived happily ever after. Or not…

ON BORROWED time • Nick Adams sets off once again on an old bike to distant places. How will this septuagenarian cope with 5000 miles on a fifty year old motorcycle?

OUTWARD BOUND • Adventures, autojumbles and rides on great roads: point your wheels this way…

MUTABLE MABSA • Odgie is building a lighter rolling chassis to house the mighty Matchless motor from Scott Speed's flat-track race bike. In this month's penultimate instalment, he has a few final hurdles to overcome…

SUPER SINGLE • Stu Thomson's Oriental-Italian café racer has been taken apart and overhauled. Now comes the moment to put it back together again and… ride it!

PUB TALK • Penny pinching PUB goes to the National Motorcycle Museum open day, because it is free (and there are additional attractions to the museum itself on that weekend)

Ollie's ODD JOBS • Grom. Grom? Grom! Ollie discovers a strange new (small) world…

TALES FROM THE SHED • Woody's back. Summer's gone. Frank's been mostly underwater…
