Real Classic

Jun 01 2023
Magazine

RealClassic magazine features the very best British motorcycles from all eras, plus charismatic Continental machines (and the odd Japanese classics crops up occasionally, too). Long term classic riders will recognise many of the members of the RC team, which includes authors, historians and journalists like Steve Wilson, Dave Minton, Matt Vale, Odgie, Jacqueline 'PUB' Bickerstaff, Rowena Hoseason and editor Frank Westworth -- but the magazine's key feature is that it is firmly grounded in the real world. Our articles are written by real life riders and reflect far more than a simple road test ever can. We're never scared of getting grubby in The Shed (and we even admit it when things go horribly wrong!)

NO REFUNDS! • You've enjoyed owing your old bike but it's time for a change. Whether you need more space or some cash in hand, there are now more ways than ever before to sell a classic motorcycle. Rowena Hoseason explores your options…

TEARAWAY 250S • Royal Enfield's unit-construction 250 singles were tailor-made for the teenage tearaways of the 1960s. But how well have they stood up to the test of time? Paul Henshaw shares his hands-on experiences with Crusaders, Continentals, Clippers and more…

ALWAYS A Bridermaid • For the last 35 years, John Waltham's back-up bike has been a pre-war Vincent Comet. It's always played second fiddle to his Number One motorcycle. Finally, it's time for the 500 single to step out of the shadows…

ON THE PROWL! • Almost every excursion on an old bike can be an adventure – but just riding 250 miles on a 63 year-old Britbike isn't enough for Nick Adams. Bring on Ontario's gravel backroads, the slushy snow, and the poutine…

THE FREDDER! • Alan Cathcart tells the improbable tale of a British Bulldog built by Fred, not Bob…

LEGGERA LUSSO! • Last time, Stu Thomson secured himself an ohc Italian single, an MV Agusta 175cc single. This month he's repairing the frame, prepping for paint and much more…

FLAT OUT! • The end is in sight, but before Odgie can beat the world on his B50-based wunderbike, there are just a few final jobs to be jobbed and then the job's a good ‘un…

Ship SHAPE • There are more connections between big boats and old bikes than first meets the eye. Roger Fogg seeks out ships with famous names…

PUB TALK • It is the Classic Bike Show at Stafford, but only Saturday on account of a ‘special birthday’ for AJS Mary…

Ollie's ODDJOBS • What could be better than a nice MZ single? A nicer MZ twin, of course! Ollie gets a grip

TALES FROM THE SHED • Now that Frank's Norton Commando is once again a runner, it needs to be able to stop, too…
