Real Classic

Jul 01 2022
Magazine

RealClassic magazine features the very best British motorcycles from all eras, plus charismatic Continental machines (and the odd Japanese classics crops up occasionally, too). Long term classic riders will recognise many of the members of the RC team, which includes authors, historians and journalists like Steve Wilson, Dave Minton, Matt Vale, Odgie, Jacqueline 'PUB' Bickerstaff, Rowena Hoseason and editor Frank Westworth -- but the magazine's key feature is that it is firmly grounded in the real world. Our articles are written by real life riders and reflect far more than a simple road test ever can. We're never scared of getting grubby in The Shed (and we even admit it when things go horribly wrong!)

FROM THE FRONT

Real Classic

WEDDED BLISS • Paul Dale and his Ducati have been together for almost half a century: longer than most marriages! He reviews their times together, and the modifications which have enhanced his riding relationship…

INCOMING! • RC readers write, rant and rattle on…

COMMANDO COME BACK • You just can’t keep a good man (or his motorcycle) down. Jon Hurst’s Norton has been written-off more than once. But those incidents simply provided the impetus to improve it…

FLAT A veryTwin • Neil Hay doesn’t understand why some people don’t like BMW’s old boxers. He gets on just fine with his R80s. Until he meets an earlier incarnation of the breed…

What Might Have Been! • What should a chap do if BSA somehow failed to build the model he wants? Build his own, that’s what. Alan Cathcart tells us about Doug Fraser’s Emu…

STARS & STRIPES • Take an Italian classic and give it an American twist. You might come up with Frank Sinatra or a Frappuccino – or a road-racer transformed into a street scrambler. Rowena Hoseason puts down her Hawaiian pizza and picks up her skid lid…

THE BEST of BOTH • Stephen Herbert squeezed an oversized BULL-et 535 engine into a Cru-SADER frame to create the Bulsader, and navigated the red tape to make it road legal. It was finally time to take to the road…

REMEMBER WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG? • For many of us, motorcycles and motorcycling are all about how they make us feel, deep down. Sometimes, we can lose that connection. And sometimes we can rediscover it, as Edward Foreman explains…

OUTWARDBOUND • Rides, rallies, shows and jumbles! Point your wheels this way…

LOCK DOWN Light Weight • If ever there was a good time to build a bike from bits, it was backin2020. Simon Huntington assembled an AMC 350 lightweight from an assortment of scrap metal…

NO POINT OF REFERENCE • Over three decades, Mark Adams has battled with his Beezer to make it run smoothly and ride right. What lessons has he learned during that process – and which specialist parts can he recommend?

PUB TALK • On having a ball in Rugby and maintaining a high fettling rate on the Pre-War Project…

Ollie’s ODDJOBS

TALES FROM THE SHED • Miracles still happen. No, really. Frank has enjoyed a remarkable event!
