Real Classic

Dec 01 2022
Magazine

RealClassic magazine features the very best British motorcycles from all eras, plus charismatic Continental machines (and the odd Japanese classics crops up occasionally, too). Long term classic riders will recognise many of the members of the RC team, which includes authors, historians and journalists like Steve Wilson, Dave Minton, Matt Vale, Odgie, Jacqueline 'PUB' Bickerstaff, Rowena Hoseason and editor Frank Westworth -- but the magazine's key feature is that it is firmly grounded in the real world. Our articles are written by real life riders and reflect far more than a simple road test ever can. We're never scared of getting grubby in The Shed (and we even admit it when things go horribly wrong!)

Real Classic

FROM THE FRONT

THE Body Beautiful • Hang up your waxed cotton or leather jacket. Swap your lumpy bike boots for Oxfords (or even brogues). Commute to the city, dressed to do business. The new bodystyled Norton has arrived!

THINKING OF BUYING?

INCOMING! • RC readers write, rant and rattle on… Summat to say? Send your comments, hints, tips, tales of woe and derring-don't to: RCHQ@RealClassic.net

Deviant Desmo • Is Ducati's Monster a ‘Schwarzenegger in Drag'? Alan Cathcart celebrates three decades of a mould-breaking twin

Routh Tough Roadster • Royal Enfield's Bullet 500 went out with a bang. Frank Westworth reduces the shine on a final fling; the Trials Works Replica

Black BRUTEY • Laverda ownership is addictive, says Adam Sheriff. If you own one bike of the marque then you may need to get another or - in his case - a third…

WHAT THE PAPERS SAID

EXPERT INSIGHT

Going back TO A Beam • Recently Reg Eyre was seduced by the wiles of a modern motorcycle… but it wasn't long before the charms of a pre-war single led him back to classic happiness

A LITTLE HISTORY

Christmas CRACKERS! • The very best present for your bosom biking buddy would of course be a year's subscription to this very magazine - but if your pal already reads RC then here are a few other festive suggestions…

READER ADS

FLAT OUT ! • You may recall one of Odgie's flat-tracker project which was going to be his last race bike build. Well, it was. Until the next one. And now it seems he's not quite ready to hang up his racing leathers just yet…

KRAFT WERK • In the 1930s Walter Moore designed a range of ohv singles for NSU, one of which was the 251 OSL. During its 15-year production run, more than 65,000 were built - and John Lay accidentally bought one…

IF IT AIN'T BROKE… • When is the right time to recondition your regular ride? Martin Peacock has been pondering the ravages of time

Ollie's ODDJOBS • Now here is indeed a thing: 0llie's uncovered the BSA Super Rocket 3; a truly worthy Odd Job…

PUB TALK • Pioneering in the Rain.

TALES FROM THE SHED • Matchless, Matchless, Matchless. They're everywhere! At least two of them work. Frank looks away from lightweight delight for a while…
